What is VMPET Film?

VMPET film is short for vacuum metalized polyester film, that is, under vacuum conditions, a thin layer of aluminum atoms are deposited on the surface of the PET (polyester) film substrate to finally achieve a bright metal film, which is widely used in flexible packaging and self-supporting. The reason VMPET film is so widely used in stand-up pouch packaging is its high barrier properties and much lower cost than aluminum foil.

For stand-up pouch packaging, the bright metallic effect means that the final packaging can achieve a more vivid and solid effect. Just like the ink is printed on a clear PET film, in fact, even with an additional PE layer, the actual artwork is halfway visible.

Sun-shielding properties mean that packaging using VMPET film can well protect internal products from sunlight, such as potato chips, liquid detergents, biscuits, instant noodles, and more. VMPET film is the best solution for the packaging of these products.

So, how is VMPET film produced?

The vacuum metallization of aluminum wire can only be carried out under vacuum conditions. If there is air inside the metalizing machine, oxygen will cause the aluminum wire to burn easily, and may also cause an explosion, because, during the production process, the temperature must be heated to nearly 2000 degrees Celsius, so that the aluminum wire evaporates into aluminum gas, which makes the aluminum gas evenly deposited on the surface of the PET film.

The thickness of the aluminum layer is very thin, only 350-450 Å (1 Å = 10^(-10) m), while the PET film is 12 microns (1 micron = 10^(-6) m)
